Why did the Trump administration delay testing for coronavirus early in the pandemic and falsely play down its seriousness?
I. For political reasons.
A. He did not want a crisis to make him look unprepared after he underfunded the US Public Health Service.
B. He was afraid the crisis would expose the weakness of the artificially propped up economy.
II. For personal financial interests. Interference with travel would hurt the profits at Trump Hotels.
III. Keeping down testing would keep the number of reported cases down which would serve Trump's image but delay treatment for victims of the disease.
